A History of the Rammelkamp Bradney Law Firm

Carl E. Robinson

When Orville returned to the firm from the Marine Corps in 1945, Carl Robinson suggested that they join forces, welcoming Ted Rammelkamp in 1948 and Robert Bradney in 1950.

Carl was one of the most renowned attorneys in downstate Illinois at the time he and Orville combined practices. Carl was a trial attorney of forceful presence and exceptional skills; no one who faced him forgot the experience.

At Illinois College, Carl earned his way through school by firing coal furnaces for homes and establishments in the neighborhoods surrounding the college. He graduated at the top of his class, and headed to law school at the University of Chicago, again graduating at the top of his class. Returning to Jacksonville to practice law, he was elected to the state legislature in the ‘20s. After a distinguished career in Springfield, Carl was elected state’s attorney for Morgan County. Beyond the law, Carl’s passion was Illinois College. He participated in commencement as a trustee of the college for decades.
